How did he come up with the name Vader? Why did he age when he became a power spirit? Did a high midichlor count actually mean anything?
You are watching : what makes darth vader so iconic
One of the most iconic villains in all of cinema has to be Darth Vader. First, from afar, you hear the heavy, mechanical wheezing of his breathing apparatus. Next, catch glimpses of the lights on his jet black suit, which are part of the vital system that keeps his body alive. When he steps into the light, one sees the emotionless, skull-like appearance that his black mask has. The last thing you’ll see is the flash of his ruby lightsaber’s swing cutting you down. You don’t argue with Darth Vader and you don’t trade with Darth Vader. The sad part is that he wasn’t always evil. We were introduced to young Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace, and the audience got to watch the boy from podracing in the desert become the right-hand man of the Emperor of the Republic.

Some parts of Darth Vader’s origins are almost Shakespearean in nature, other parts are a bit confusing. Of course, mistakes were made: George Lucas started the Star Wars series of films by starting in the middle! Star Wars mastermind George Lucas didn’t originally plan on having Darth Vader as Luke and Leia’s father, but how did Vader not recognize C-3PO when he made him as a kid? How did he even come up with the name Vader? Why did he age when he became a power spirit? Did a high midichlor count actually mean anything? What was so great about Darth Vader that made him an idol for Kylo Ren? Do you have any explanations that make some of these nonsensical things about Darth Vader work?
WHAT WAS DARTH VADERS ACTUAL JOB?
Darth Vader. The notorious villain. Sith Lord. What is actually on his business card? He’s the supreme commander of the Imperial Fleet, but did he get that because he was a good podracer? Is this just an example of nepotism? What privileges does the position of Supreme Commander give you?
Not only does he automatically surpass the will of the Emperor, but also everyone he speaks to? In A New Hope, it sometimes seemed like Grand Moff Tarkin was talking to Vader. Even Admiral Motti threw some shadow in his way. Doesn’t seem very exalted when subordinates scoff at your loyalty to power.

WHAT IS ALWAYS CLOSED WITH VADER’S HIGH MIDICHLORIAN NUMBER?
In The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn checked the Amount of midichlorians in Anakin’s blood. Young Obi-Wan said the number was over 20,000, which is higher than any Jedi they knew of. What does that mean? Doesn’t that make Anakin the best of the best? Let’s see what he achieves in the next two films.
In Attack of the Clones, he is defeated by Count Dooku and loses part of his arm in a lightsaber fight. In Revenge of the Sith, Vader is defeated by Obi-Wan while fighting on the volcanic planet Mustafar. So we’re guessing midichlorians are really useless?
WAS DARTH VADER A ROBOT?
When you watch cybernetic characters in the cinema, you can see the line where the machine stops and the organic being begins. The Justice League character Cyborg is clearly a person enhanced by technology. Even the Borg from Star Trek looks like aliens with machine parts. What about Darth Vader?

All of his limbs were chopped off by Obi-Wan and replaced with mechanical ones. It is mentioned in the books and comics that much of his internal structure was rebuilt to handle the weight of his suit. Thanks to his injuries and the dark side, is there still humanity in Vader that still considers him human?
p>WHY WAS HIS SUIT SO LOUD?
Star Wars is packed with awesome tech. Hyperspeed allows ships to fly faster than the speed of light. There are hundreds if not thousands of different races of aliens that wield weapons ranging from blasters to lightsabers. So what’s up with Vader’s suit technology?
Comics and novels delve deep into the way Vader’s suit was purposefully designed to cause Vader pain, but what about the iron lung-like ones breathing sounds? Sound designer Ben Burtt, Jr. made the sounds using an old Dacor dive controller. While it was cool for cinematic effect, wasn’t there a futuristic silencer he could place on his face?
WHY THE NAME DARTH VADER ?
Anakin Skywalker seals his fate when he sides with Senator Palpatine against Mace Windu Revenge of the Sith . Anakin cuts off Windu’s hand and then Palpatine uses Force Lightning to throw Windu out of a building. Anakin swears allegiance to the Sith Lord as long as he helps him save Padme.
Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, introduces him to the Sith on the spot and gives him a new name: Darth Vader . However, it doesn’t look like Sidious has that name in his back pocket. He came up with it on the spot, but why did he choose that particular name?
People don’t know him by his reputation ?
Darth Vader looks kind of strange at first glance. He has lots of flashing lights on his belt and you can hear him breathing from a mile away. If you’re thinking that thing on his head looks like a space helmet, you’re right, because that’s what it was originally intended to be. Funny or not, he has a reputation for being a bad guy.
He does, doesn’t he? After all, people on the Death Star should know that if you look at it the wrong way, it will cast you into oblivion. So why is it in there? A New Hope Admiral Motti thinks Vader is some kind of fake wizard? Doesn’t Vader’s reputation precede him?
WHY DID A REMATCH WITH OBI-WAN TAKE SO LONG?
Darth Vader has a bone to pick with Obi-Wan Kenobi, and rightly so. Kenobi caused Vader to perish on Mustafar after chopping off his arms and legs. He was found by Darth Sidious at the last minute and rescued by technology. It would be years before Vader and Kenobi would see each other again, but why did it take so long?
Why didn’t he go after Kenobi for revenge? It didn’t matter because he had to do it! Do you remember Executive Order 66? It called for the execution of all Jedi, so he had to find him by executive order, even if he had no personal reasons.
He didn’t know how that LEIA BECAME HIS CHILD?
Star Wars was George Lucas’ brainchild, but some of the key plot points evolved over time. It was not George Lucas’ original intention to make Darth Vader father to Luke Skywalker, and it is also clear that Lucas did not intend Leia to become Vader’s daughter.
Vader can use the Force, to spot Luke when he’s around. However, Leia was right in front of him in the opening scenes of A New Hope. Why didn’t the force tell him immediately that his daughter was before him?
WHY COULD VADER NOT GET THE DEATH STAR PLANS FROM THE REBELS ?
Some people loved Villain One because of the backstory it provided, others didn’t like the film because it was too dark. However, almost everyone can agree that the ending scene, in which Darth Vader cuts a path through Rebel soldiers, was one of the best scenes of all time in the Star Wars franchise.
As luck would have it, the Rebels can’t deal with the Escape Death Star blueprints. Vader couldn’t get past the rebel forces fast enough, but he didn’t have to either. Couldn’t he have just used the Force to either grab the plans or the guy holding the plans?
HOW IS HE LIKE GROWN UP SO FAST?
Scott Kelly is an astronaut, but he also has a twin brother. Why is that important? Because he is 13 milliseconds younger than his twin due to all his time in space. Could all space travel, star wars characters explain the strange aging that takes place between phantom menace and attack of the clones?
In Phantom Menace, Anakin was nine and Padme was 14 (yeah, we don’t think so either). The sequel was shelved 10 years later, meaning Anakin was 19 and Padme was 24 (both Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman were 21 at the time). Why are we looking at the actors and still feeling like the timeline is wrong?
HOW DID VADER NOT RECOGNIZE C-3PO ?
First of all, realizing that Anakin at the age of nine is the actual creator of C-3PO was a little odd, to say the least. It’s not like Anakin is Tony Stark and we need to show him doing something amazing to show how awesome he is. At the end of Revenge of the Sith , Captain Antilles orders Threepio’s memory wiped.
Do you know whose memory wasn’t wiped? Darth Vader! Why doesn’t Vader recognize C-3PO? Was the protocol droid built from some sort of kit, making the droid unrecognizable from other droids? On the other hand, Vader couldn’t even recognize his own children.
HOW DID HE SURVIVE TO LOSE VS OBI-WAN ON MUSTAFAR?
Towards the end of Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan not only cuts off Darth Vader’s limbs, but also sets his former friend on fire due to Vader’s proximity to the lava flow right next to him. Vader is limbless and on fire… this must be the end of him, right?
No! Darth Sidious arrives just in time to put him in a medical pod, but it took him some time to get there. How did Darth Vader survive the physical trauma and heat of the lava? Let’s not forget, he was on fire too!
WHY DID VADER CHANGE WHEN HE TRANSFORMED INTO A POWER GENIE?
Okay, we get it. If you’re watching Return of the Jedi when it originally released, it ends with Force Ghosts of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin standing together and looking at Luke. In the film’s re-release, the ghost of Anakin, played by Sebastian Shaw, was digitally replaced by Hayden Christensen.
This was clearly done to bridge the cinematic gap between the first and second trilogies. However, there is no in-universe explanation as to why Anakin ages while Obi-Wan does not. Does Yoda age? We can’t say… the guy is aging very well!
WHY DOES VADER SOUND SO DIFFERENT WHEN WEARING THE SUIT?
Would you believe us if we told you that James Earl Jones stuttered as a child? He overcame his speech impediment and is known today for his eloquent, sonorous voice. We wonder: Is there something in-universe that explains why Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker doesn’t sound like Vader, voiced by James Earl Jones?
We can buy his voice due to the cybernetic implants that put it in his voice box, but even his cadence and speech pattern are completely different. Which cybernetic implant lets you speak and use words like another person?
VADER didn’t follow the rule of two
It seems the Jedi have a long list of rules to follow. According to the Jedi Code, Jedi are to have no personal relationships, only to defend and not attack, to be in the present and not to dwell in the past. The Sith don’t have that many rules, but some that are important.
The Sith Rule of Two states that you can only have two Sith Lords at a time: a master and an apprentice. This was started by the first Sith Lord named Darth Bane. If Vader is Darth Sidious’s apprentice, how could they recruit Luke to the dark side? One of them would have to…er…retire.
HOW LONG WAS VADER IN SPACE AFTER THE DEATH STAR BLOWN UP?
During the trench-walking scene of A New Hope, Luke Skywalker is shot down by Darth Vader. Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon rescue Luke just in time. Solo shoots down a Tie Fighter, the other freaks out and crashes into Vader’s ship. Vader’s ship is disabled and crashing into space.
Luke blows up the Death Star and everyone celebrates! But what happened to Vader? How long did he stagger around in space? Where exactly did Vader go after the Death Star was destroyed? So many questions!
HOW DID HE NOT KNOW ABOUT LUKE?
Sometimes the best way to avoid someone finding you is to hide in plain sight (Clark Kent does it this way). Or maybe the person chasing you has perceptual blindness, meaning they’re just unable to see things that are right in front of them. Which explains why Darth Vader didn’t know about Luke?
Darth Vader’s previous name was Anakin Skywalker. His son is Luke Skywalker. Do you see where we’re going with this? Isn’t there some sort of galactic phone book Vader can look up? There can’t be too many people named Skywalker in the galaxy!
HOW DID VADER GO SO EVIL SO QUICKLY?
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a race! From The Dark Knight, we have Harvey Dent, who became the evil Two-Face after a five-minute chat with the Joker in a hospital. We also have Cyclops from the X-Men, who became a villain after eliminating Professor X. Then we have Darth Vader, who turned really evil after Sidious Vader gave his Sith name.
The winner of the character who turned evil the fastest is Darth Vader! After cutting off Mace Windu’s hand, he slaughtered Jedi Younglings and almost everyone he encountered on Mustafar. How did it turn to the dark side so quickly? Maybe blame the Midichlorians!
HOW DID KYLO REN OBTAIN VADERS MASK?
Could Kylo Ren be the greatest Be a fan of Darth Vader? In The Force Awakens, we see Ren adoringly looking at the remains of Darth Vader’s helmet. Why is it damaged? When audiences last saw it, it was burned at the stake along with the body of Darth Vader on Endor at the end of the year Return of the Jedi.
How did Vader’s helmet come into Kylo Ren’s possession? Was there an Ewok on Endor that listed it for sale on eBay? There are definitely a number of ways Kylo came about, it would just be awesome if the right one was shared with the audience!
WHAT ABOUT HIGH AREA?
At the end of Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi engage in an epic battle with Sith Lord Darth Maul. Maul dispatches jinn and has Kenobi on the ropes. Kenobi is dangling over a pit and Maul is standing over him, but Obi-Wan uses the power to leap over him, grab his lightsaber and slice Maul in half.
Ok, if this act of If power jumping over someone worked for Obi-Wan, why couldn’t it work for Vader on Mustafar? Obi-Wan literally disproved that you have an advantage when you have the height, so why couldn’t Vader do what Obi-Wan did to Darth Maul?
WHY IS VADER ACCEPTED BY THE FORCE GHOSTS OF YODA AND OBI-WAN?
The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith gave us a great display of Anakin’s corruption Skywalker and the creation of Darth Vader. In this transformation, we saw many, many people lose their lives because of the hatred and anger that flowed through them.
The comics, books, and animated shows delve even deeper into the villains of Darth Vader. Why does Yoda and Obi-Wan happily hang out with him as ghosts at the end of the year? Return of the Jedi ? Why would they accept Vader but not Qui-Gon?
HOW CAN VADER HAVE NO FATHER?
Some people desperately want to be a Jedi. did we say something We meant a lot. In 2001, 70,000 Australians identified themselves as Jedi. In the same year in England and Wales around 390,000 people enrolled as Jedi under religious affiliation. The Jedi faith even affects people in IRL, but how much does being a Jedi have to do with actual religion?
By saying that Anakin Skywalker didn’t have a real father, that makes him to a literal Christ-like figure. It has been rumored that the father may be Darth Plagueis or may have been produced by Midicholians. Saying that Vader doesn’t have a real father doesn’t really work given the drama that unfolds between fathers and sons throughout the series.
What was wrong with the Vader who had Luke’s face?
There are some very trippy moments in the Star Wars series. In The Last Jedi, Rey travels to a cave beneath the island where Luke Skywalker resides. In it, she interacts with the dark side of the Force and has powerful visions, including one where infinite copies of Rey move in an endless void. What did it all mean?
Something similar happened in The Empire Strikes Back. Luke travels to the swamps of Dagobah and encounters Darth Vader. When Luke hits him with his lightsaber, his mask comes off and it’s revealed he has Luke’s face! What the hell was that? When did the Force decide to use symbolism instead of just being clear?
WHY DID KYLO idolize REN VADER?
< p>When Kylo Ren was introduced, fans were intrigued but still had many questions about his origins. After two sequels, we still don’t know for sure about the Knights of Ren, or even the backstory to Kylo’s gnarly, red-raging Crossguard lightsaber. Another thing we don’t know: why does Kylo idolize Darth Vader?
Sure, there were rumors about Vader and his actions, but Kylo’s teacher was Luke, so wouldn’t Luke enlighten Kylo about Luke’s own father? Also, Vader exploded the Death Star and betrayed the Emperor. What is it about Ben Solo wanting to take his actions to the dark side?
WHY WAS VADERS SABOTAGE ON THE MILLENNIUM FALCON NOT A BASIC LONGER?< /h2>
In Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader ambushes Han Solo in Cloud City and then sets a trap for Luke Skywalker. While the Millennium Falcon was on Cloud City, Darth Vader had the ship’s hyperdrive sabotaged so they could not escape. These were Vader’s orders, and this is someone who is the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet and has precognitive abilities thanks to the Force.
R2-D2 was able to reactivate the hyperdrive, allowing the ship to escape. Why did Vader just ask to disable the hyperdrive? Why not the entire propulsion system? Why not place a giant bomb on the ship? Come on Vader, you’re even badder!
