Dear KCSMA Families,
As you know, last week the KCSMA board and school administration made decided not to implement 7th and 8th grades at KCSMA at this time. This was a very difficult decision, Of the 5 board members who are KCSMA parents, 1 member has a child in 6th grade and 2 members have a child in 5th grade. This decision has a near immediate impact on our families, just as it does many of yours. We understand that many of you have questions and we hope that this information will help to explain why we felt this decision was for the best. All along we have planned for and assumed that 7th and 8th grades would be implemented over the next few years. As you saw in the new building presentation, we asked the architect to plan for a K-8 building. It was not until we received numbers for the annual cost of the debt service on the bonds for the new facility that we realized what the reality of the situation was. Read the rest of this entry »
